Meet the Doctors

David S. Cook, O.D.

Dr. Cook graduated with high honors from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1996.  His undergraduate education and degrees are from the University of Michigan and Ferris State University.  Dr. Cook started practicing in Cadillac immediately after graduation and has seen siginficant growth in his practice since then.  He practices full scope optometry including medical management of glaucoma and diabetic patients, disease and injury treatment, refractive surgery co-management, as well as comprehensive family eye and vision care.

Dr. Cook is very involved in his profession and serves on the Michigan Optometric Association Board.  He is also on the Ferris State University Alumni Board, is President of Cadillac Pop Warner, coordinates Cadillac Slam Travel Baseball, and coaches youth hockey.  Dr. Cook enjoys coaching his 3 sons through the various seasons.  He enjoys fly fishing, hunting, golf and playing hockey in his free time.  His wife, Dr. Michele Cook, teaches biology at Cadillac High School.

Douglas E. Schneider, O.D.

After graduating pre-med from the University of Michigan, Dr. Schneider served 2 years in the United States Army at the Fort Baker Medical Lab.  He then attended and graduated from The Ohio State University's School of Optometry.  He practice in Manistee and Traverse City for 3 years before buying the Cadillac NuVision in 1984.  Dr. Schneider owned and practiced at NuVision (which later became Pearle Vision) until 2008 when he combined practices with Dr. David Cook of Family Eye Care and moved into their current location.  Dr. Schneider is a member of the Michigan and American Optometric Associations.  He also served on the Cherry Grove township board as a trustee for 5 years.

Dr. Schneider is and avid biker and athlete who enjoys competing in area bike races and tours. He commutes to work on his bike in all but the worst weather.  Dr. Schneider and his wife Patricia have 2 children.
